Save the date!

On 5 April 2019 from 09.00 until 16.15, at the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia, Jēkaba Street 6/8, LIIA in cooperation with partners will hold an annual high-level international conference: Baltic EU Conversations 2019: Awaiting Political Change.

2019 will be a year of change in the European Union. Not only will the EU have one less member state, but also a new European Parliament and a new European Commission. These changes could be both unfortunate and fortunate. During the conference, together with high-level representatives, we aim to discuss ongoing negotiations on the next Multiannual Financial Framework. Explain what the EU’s tactics are in the current international trade environment, and what they should be. Discuss the future of European defense policies and systems. As well as answer the question of how European Union institutions can better help to cope with or adjust to the current challenges created by the information space and predict how relations between the EU and the US will look in the run-up to the next US presidential elections in 2020.

The event is organized by LIIA together with the European Commission Representation in Latvia and the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia, with the support of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Institute of International Relations and Political Science at the University of Vilnius.
