Guest lecture by Dr. Jaushieh (Joseph) Wu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan

The Rīga Stradiņš University, the Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia, and the Latvian Institute of International Affairs (LIIA) invites you to the guest lecture: "Political and Economic Challenges of East Asia," delivered by Dr. Jaushieh (Joseph) Wu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan. The discussion will be moderated by the Director of the LIIA, Dr. Kārlis Bukovskis.

The lecture will take place on November 7, from 15:30 at the Rīga Stradiņš University, 16 Dzirciema Street, Hippocrates Auditorium.

Dr. Jaushieh (Joseph) Wu (Ph.D., 1989) currently serves as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan under President Tsai Ing-wen since February 2018. He was formerly the Secretary-General to the Office of the President and the Secretary-General of the National Security Council of the Republic of China. From 2007 to 2008, he was Chief Representative to the United States as the head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office. He received his Ph.D. in political science in 1989 at Ohio State University and was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008. He served as a research assistant in the political science department and as deputy director of the Institute of International Relations of the National Chengchi University in Taiwan.
